Pasqua
Sette Ventiquattro
Pinot Grigio

Italy

$11.99

Fratelli Pasqua is a family owned winery begun in 1925. The new generation of Verona-born brothers has clearly and firmly embraced the path of quality production with an emphasis on  promoting and improving the local wines of their region. They are ranked in the top 5 privately-owned wineries and operate without outside finance or support from other ventures.  A reduction of yield per hectare is strictly enforced giving quality the precedence over quantity which would also seem to be a contradiction for a volume oriented winery. Quantity is achieved through other and more wise means. The brothers are constantly searching for and acquiring vineyards in the  classic Veronese area. They now own 100 ha (247 acres) of vineyards. They have widened their grape supply base through 60 ha (148 acres) of contract growers to which they supply full technical support and maintain an on-going supervision of all viticultural aspects. These grapes are vinified separately and given the names of the vineyards from which they come.

A pleasant and fruity wine with notes of pear and apricot and floral hints. Fresh and well balanced in the mouth. To be served cool, with appetizers, delicate pasta dishes, fish or white meat.

Drathen
Dornfelder

Germany

$11.99

Dornfelder produces reds with deep bluish-purple color. On the nose a bit floral with dark berry aromas.  On the palate, the texture is velvety with blackberry and dark cherry flavors.  The Lieblich is a sweet Dornfelder.

Obvio
Malbec

$9.99

The Estate
Viña Obvio is a brand new venture inspired by the typicity of the main grape varietals of the Valle de Uco. Its founder Richard James, a Welshman with ten years experience in the Argentine wine business and a judge in some of the world’s most prestigious wine competitions, has joined forces with British and Argentine investors to produce export quality wines.
Individuality, quality, value for money and a powerfully entertaining and eye-catching concept is what the company wants to achieve.
The Vineyard
Argentina is characterized by its wide valleys and sloping plains which dominate the country’s wine producing regions, whose main attributes are altitude and natural purity (the diseases that usually affect vines are not frequent in this region because of its dry climate). All vineyards are located in unpolluted places, far away from population centers.
Mendoza is the most important wine-producing province in Argentina, producing more than 80% of Argentina’s wine. Well inside the first mountainsides of the Andes’ foothills, the Uco Valley presents the highest altitudes at which wines are produced in the province of Mendoza: up to 1,400 meters (4,593 feet) above sea level. The reasons why this region is so coveted are its thermal amplitude and high solar radiation levels. The combination of these factors results in slow and balanced ripening cycles. Thus, both white and red varieties give forth their primary varietal characteristics.

This carefully crafted Malbec from San Carlos, Valle de Uco, encapsulates the vibrancy and soul of Argentinean life. Obvio´s Malbec excites the eye with its deep violet tones and tangoes on the palate with an array of red and black fruits. This is an easy drinking style of wine to be enjoyed on all occasions, and excellent when paired with meats, pasta and hard cheeses.

The Thorn-Clarke Philosophy

The Thorn-Clarke family already has a long history in the Barossa – six generations of involvement in the region’s world famous wine industry.

We take a long-term view of the future and our goal is unashamedly to be still growing grapes and making wine for another six generations.

We recognise and value the role that our suppliers, distributors, retailers and customers play in this goal and we seek to develop sustainable partnerships based on loyalty, trust and quality.

The Quality ObjectiveGiven our plans to be a premium wine producer for a very long time, producing quality and value are critical.

Right from the time when our first vineyards were established we have been extremely thorough in ensuring all elements are right.

Our four vineyards have all been selected to ensure we can provide the ideal growing conditions for each variety.

We haven’t rushed the release of our wines. We have waited for an optimum vine age so we can ensure top quality fruit.

The attention to detail carries through to the winemaking side, ensuring that our wines over deliver in quality across a number of different price points.

Deep red colour, with a lifted and intense nose of blackberry fruit, sweet spice and dark chocolate. The palate is very rich and flavoursome with blackberry and plum fruit. In addition to the primary fruit characters there is plenty of complexity in this wine with spice and earthy notes. There is heaps of mouth filling flavour complemented by chalky tannins. There is great length of fruit as well.
